Introduction

Every year on 14 August, Pakistan celebrates Independence Day. The special day invokes an unparalleled joy and affection towards Pakistan. It reminds us of the relentless efforts and sacrifices made by our ancestors, who for our sake, fought to carve out a beautiful Pakistan. It is much more than a day off work; it is thick with sentiment, pride, and national unity.

A Short History of Pakistan’s Independence

Historical image of Pakistan Independence                                                        Pakistan got its independence on 14 August 1947. Prior to that, the subcontinent Muslims were subjects under the British rule. This road to liberty was a long one. Thousands of individuals sacrificed their lives that we would be able to live in an independent country.
The leader of freedom movement was our great leader Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Allama Iqbal envisioned the creation of an independent land where the Muslims could practice their Islam. It was on this day that we recall that dream that materialized and Pakistan was born.

Why This Day Is Important

14 August is relevant since it reminds us that we are free people. We should be given a right of speech, religious practice and live separately. With freedom comes duty. The lesson this day is:

Love and respect the country

Labour and work in peace

Thank God of the freedom that you have without death of other people.

My Feelings on 14 August

Boy holding Pakistani flag on 14 August

I am excited about 14 August because whenever I mention it, I feel pride in my heart.

I understand that I am a fortunate person to be a citizen of a free country. However, I do realize that we should make some good things on behalf of our country.

Little things we do, such as maintaining cleanliness of our surrounding areas; assisting others; studying honestly and being truthful, will also help make Pakistan a stronger nation.

It takes one to fly the flag but it takes the whole man to make the flag flyable.

Conclusion

14 August is not about flying the flags or spending a free day, but rather it is a sign of our past, celebration of present and hope of a better future.

Then, shall we keep alive in our minds the heroes who brought us this freedom and shall we pledge ourselves to do our bit of making Pakistan peaceful, strong and successful.

Pakistan Zindabad! Paindabad Quaid-e- Azam!
